Arguably being the very first video game icon, most of us remember Pac-Man for its many ventures through the maze game genre. However, in 1984 Namco had new plans for their rotund yellow hero…

Pac-Land was first introduced to arcades in 1984, and played off the success of the American Pac-Man Hanna-Barbera cartoon. The player takes control of a legged Pac-Man, who’s job is to guide a lost fairy back to Fairyland. Pac-Man must platform his way through many perilous obstacles - bouncing on springboards, navigating through quicksand, and dodging leaky fire hydrants. Once three sections are completed, Pac-Man must turn back and return home.

Pac-Land made it to the home market through many console version itterations, including the Nintendo Famicom and the TurboGrafx-16. These two console versions are the main focus of our June Boost, but don’t be afraid to dust off those Commodore computers! We’d love nothing more than to truly show the community everything Pac-Land has to offer.
