Joe & Mac was released for many different platforms, beginning with an arcade, MS-DOS, and SNES release in 1991. However, it eventually found its way onto the Amiga in 1992, then on NES and Gameboy in 1993. Finally, the version we’re playing, for Genesis, was released in 1994. Wikipedia lists it having a couple other platforms as well.
The Genesis version brought Joe & Mac back to its arcade roots and received good reviews across many publications. Joe and Mac is a run-and-gun platformer, with the Genesis version allowing the player to select between different routes and ending sequences. Additionally, there are multiple difficulties which make for a good amount of variety for speedrunning.
This run is on the order of 10 minutes and we’re looking forward to the many attempts that will hopefully push those numbers down!
